Get Set for Christmas Jumper Day 2026

There aren’t many days of the year when turning up to work in your most festive knit is actively encouraged, but luckily Christmas Jumper Day is one of them.

Every December, people across the UK pull on their Christmas jumpers to raise money for Save the Children. Whether you’re going all-out with a novelty knit or keeping things classic in a festive fairisle, here’s everything you need to know about Christmas Jumper Day 2026, including when it is, how to get involved and, most importantly, what to wear!

What is Christmas Jumper Day?

Christmas Jumper Day is an annual fundraising event organised by Save the Children. It started in 2012 and has since become a festive tradition for workplaces, schools, communities and groups of friends across the UK.

The idea is simple: wear a Christmas jumper and make a donation to Save the Children. The money raised helps support children in the UK and around the world.

Since the first Christmas Jumper Day in 2012, the campaign has raised more than £42 million. So, while wearing a festive knit might seem like a small thing, taking part can make a huge difference.

When is Christmas Jumper Day?

This year, Christmas Jumper Day is on Thursday 10th December, so get it in your calendar and start deciding which Christmas jumper you’re going to wear this year.

And don’t worry. If you can’t make 10th December work, you can still take part. Save the Children says workplaces, schools and groups are welcome to hold their Christmas Jumper Day on another date if that suits them better.

How to get involved in Christmas Jumper Day 2026

If you’d like to take part, you can sign up via the Save the Children website for your workplace, school, community or group of friends.

Save the Children will then send you a digital fundraising pack to help you organise the event. Once you’ve let everyone know, simply pull on your festive knits and get everyone to donate what they can. The suggested donation is £2 for adults and £1 for children.

Choosing the right jumper for Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day is one of those rare occasions where there’s no such thing as overdressed. The only decision is just how festive you want to go.

If you’re firmly in the more-is-more camp, a novelty Christmas jumper is the obvious choice. Think festive characters and playful designs that make it immediately clear you’ve remembered what day it is.

If you prefer something a little less out-there, a fairisle Christmas jumper or quarter zip can give you that festive feel in a more traditional way. Think classic alpine patterns and winter-inspired designs that are easy to pair with pieces you already have in your wardrobe.

At Threadbare, you can find men’s Christmas jumpers and women’s Christmas jumpers in both novelty and classic designs, so whether your Christmas style is understated or unapologetically festive, you can find something to wear at Threadbare.

And remember, if you’re taking part as a group or with your partner, our matching Christmas jumpers make it easy to coordinate with whoever you’re spending the day with.

Christmas jumpers you can wear to work

The best Christmas jumper to wear to work depends on your workplace (and how committed your colleagues are to Christmas Jumper Day).

If your workplace is more relaxed, why not take the opportunity to embrace the novelty? A statement festive design or a sweatshirt with a fun Christmas slogan will work perfectly.

But if your workplace is a more formal, we recommend looking for a classic fairisle knit with a more subtle pattern instead. You’ll still look suitably festive without feeling like you’ve gone too far.
