All Things Manchester Pride and How To Stand Out From The Crowd
Manchester Pride is fast approaching. This weekend Manchester hosts one of the biggest pride events in the country. It's perfectly timed with Bank Holiday Weekend, meaning you can enjoy the festivities and still sleep it off in time for work on Tuesday!
Here at Threadbare we have styles for all, whether you are going with friends or family, we’ve got you sorted! We've put together a handy guide to help you decide what to wear for one. Get your outfits quick with next day delivery and use code SAVE20 to get 20% off your entire order (excluding sale/outlet items and delivery cost).
Beginning on Friday 26th August and ending on Monday 29th August, Manchester's Pride events are predominantly located in the heart of the Gay Village, near Picadilly. If you're looking to support Pride rather than get involved in the party (or both!) then the 'March for Peace' begins at midday on Saturday 27th August. Be sure to watch and follow along using the route below. In addition to the parade, the Gay Village Party is taking place across the whole weekend with artists such as Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle and Spice Girls' Melanie C headlining! Get your tickets for the events here.
Manchester has a long history of supporting gay rights and almost anything to do with progression. Manchester Pride has been taking place since The Manchester people are one big family, always wanting to treat each other with love and respect, no matter the diversity. It is exciting for us at Threadbare to be part of the Manchester pack, so supporting Pride only comes natural to us and our employees, and we want to share in this overflowing love and respect with our new and existing customers. Manchester Manchester Pride's website startes that:
"In 1964, the North West Homosexual Law Reform Committee was formed and five years later would become the national Campaign for Homosexual Equality. The committee was instrumental in decriminalising homosexual activity between consenting males."
Pride is an excuse to wear the most colorful and bright outfits, no colour is too bright. At Threadbare we’ve got you sorted. Our Pride styles offer a variety of fabulous styles and colours for all genders. We have picked out some of our favorite pieces, to make sure you are the best dressed!
Our Threadbare top picks
Midi Dresses
If colour and pattern is for you, this red tiger print midi dress, styled with white heels and orange bag is perfect for watching the March for Peace. Or make it more casual by pairing with some chunky boots or white trainers for an effortless look to make sure your ready for walking round Manchester or dancing at the Gay Village Party. Add a denim jacket to keep off any chill or one of our quilted gilets for added style. Alternatively, if you love the style but the pattern is not for you, why not try a more understated pattern with the green floral print midi dress that will double up as a dress for an outing or occasion, and an office-appropriate day dress. The short full sleeves, functional self-tie waist and floaty sleeves make a flattering fit perfect for enjoying the pride festival both in the day and at night.
Mini Dresses
If a mini dress is more your style, try this blue printed wrap mini dress, the bold blue wave print wrap dress is a groovy piece for the style conscious individual. To make this dress more casual you could style it with white trainers and denim jacket, making it a very versatile piece.
Bold shirts
For the style conscious individuals, why not try our yellow floral print short sleeve shirt. The pop of colour with the shirt is a perfect way to stand out in the crowd. Pair the shirt with denim jeans or shorts (which come in multiple colours) and trainers for a comfortable stylish look for the whole day.
Colourful knits
For a more subtle pop of colour, try this sleeveless sweater vest in a vibrant yet not too much. This classic garment is an easy piece to throw on. Paired with jeans and trainers is a simple way to look super stylish ready for everything that comes your way at Manchester Pride.
For the young-uns
Youth Pride is also something taking place this year in Manchester. Find out all about it on the Manchester Pride website here.
“We’re extremely proud to be a part of this event. At The Proud Place, we frequently hold events from creative art workshops and games nights to training courses and LGBTQ+ speakers. This’ll be one of our most exciting events yet and we can't wait to celebrate with young people from Manchester and beyond.” - Christine Burns, trustee of the Proud Trust
If you’re a little younger and coming a long to the Youth Pride MCR event or joining in with the March for Peace, we have bright colour pieces perfect for you. We have a cute set of a pink rainbow t-shirt and matching black leggings with a rainbow 'Good Vibes' side panel ideal for comfort but helps you stand out from the crowd. This can be paired with some trainers and our pastel ombre hooded mac style jacket depending on the weather.
If lilac is your colour we have a lilac hoodie and leggings set for a comfy and casual, athleisure look. And we love the slogan the ‘Self Love Club’! Made from a comfortable cotton and polyester mix, this co-ord set is a great throw-on outfit for the Pride weekend that doesn't compromise on style.
Alternatively, this bright red lightweight fleece jacket brings a pop of colour to every outfit. We’ve styled it with a black t-shirt and jeans and white trainers. The contrast of the red with black really makes the colour pop but would also look good with light washed jeans and a white t-shirt. Either way you won’t be hard to spot in the crowd wearing this jacket.
