Celebrate Afternoon Tea Week with Threadbare

The return of national Afternoon Tea Week is upon us, and with this sunshine, what better way to spend it than together. Whether you like a homemade afternoon tea, served in the garden on a pretty picnic blanket, or a tiered cake stand affair in your favourite restaurant or cafe, match your outfit to the occasion with something Threadbare. You've got the reservation, we've got the outfits.

If you're having a homemade afternoon tea, try out some of the recipes Lorann Oils recommends on her blog - especially these Bridgerton-inspired ones. Pinterest is great too for inspiration, follow us and see our Afternoon Tea Week board to see all the nibbles we are loving the look of.

Day date Afternoon Tea

Make it a special date for the two of you and enjoy an afternoon tea at your favourite place in style. Or to be extra cute, bake your treats at home and take them to the park or the place you first met. For this, you need the perfect outfit.

In this nice weather, a pair of men's chino shorts will be perfect for him and a women's midi dress will be perfect for her. For an afternoon of filling yourself with mini sandwiches and pretty cakes, you need an outfit that's comfortable and you can rely on to still look stylish after all that champagne (or tea! whatever your fancy).

Women's denim shorts that have a paperbag style waist with a tie belt are great for room for those scones, and you can team up with our men's denim shorts that look good with any of our men's graphic tees. You also can't go wrong with a women's denim dress that's flattering and won't look out of place in a cafe or restaurant. Team it with trainers if you're going casual, with a pop of colour bag for a little zing, or for a more classy day date, team with a heel and a pair of statement earrings to bring some elegance to your afternoon tea look. For him, any men's denim or chino shorts will look good paired with a basic tee but you can dress it up with one of our striped or floral print shirts that bring some colour to the outfit. Team with nice trainers or a pair of comfortable loafers, whatever is more appropriate for the type of afternoon tea you've got planned.

Out for Afternoon Tea with the girls

Treating your girls to afternoon tea? or, they you? Either way, do it in style in gorgeous Threadbare women's midi dresses. Perfect for the occasion. Whether you like a tonal print, florals, or wrap styles, we've something a little bit different that's on trend and super pretty. You're sure to be the Belle of the Bal--afternoon tea party.

Our women's blazers are a gorgeous alternative for cooler days, and are super chic with denim and a coloured heel. Add a basic white tee and some jewellery and you're set. Alternatively a piece of knitwear in sugar plum pink is gorgeous for this current whether where there's a chill in the air but it's still sunny. Layer your women's cardigan over your dress, or pair with a midi skirt. Your options are endless with a Threadbare knitwear piece.

For the family Afternoon Tea, wear...

Kit the kids out in some super cute outfits courtesy of Threadbare for your afternoon tea together.
If you're going for something more casual, then as a family we've got everything you need. Women's jersey dresses paired with a denim jacket are practical yet feminine outfits to keep comfortable and the focus be on enjoying the food and the day. Girls' striped knits and boys' linen look shirts are the perfect everyday pieces that still look classy enough for an outing.

If you can trust the kids to be on their best behaviour, treat them to a more formal outfit. Our boys' shirts and boys' chino shorts make the perfect combination if you're taking the kids for a restaurant style afternoon tea. Our girls' dress in an all-over leopard print also comes in a women's version so you can pair up, just like @zoetowellandtwins did with her twin daughters when they wore Threadbare dresses to restaurant Omboo. See our Dress Like Me collection for more co-ord styles.
